Thousands of voices cry out in pain. "A miracle. Please Hashem, send us a miracle." So many Jews are suffering.
The holy Tanna Rabbi Meir was surrounded by miracles. Contributing to the Jews living in the Holy Land, allows us to tap into the miracles of Rabbi Meir.
A Jew in distress approaches the tzedaka box of Rabbi Meir Baal Haness. In a voice choked with emotion he pleads,G-d of Rabbi Meir, answer me. With trembling hands he deposits a sum for the poor of Eretz Yisrael. His face softens into a smile. His burden has been lightened, as the merit of Rabbi Meir ignites hope in his heart.
Fortunate are we that to possess this powerful treasure passed down through generations. Kollel Chibas Jerusalem, the charity of Rabbi Meir Baal Haness is a source of miracles, salvation, divine blessing, and success.
In the year 1830 Kolel Chibas Jerusalem, Rabbi Meir Baal Haness was founded by the Gedolim of Galicia in support of the members of their community who made aliya to Eretz Yisrael. The Gedolim of the Diaspora expressed their deep love and yearning for Eretz Yisrael through their staunch support of the Kolel. They were honored to accept the position of Kolel president. Jews the world over following the lead of the Gedolei Hador contributed generously to the Kolel. Their support was an expression of their love of Eretz Yisrael and encouragement for their dear Jewish brethren who had merited settling in Eretz Yisrael. The Kolel which was the first to provide assistance for our struggling brothers in Eretz Yisrael served as the inspiration for other worthy organizations that have since followed its lead. For 180 years now, the Kolel has served as a support for the poor in Eretz Yisrael, and as a source of blessing for the benefactors of the Kolel.
The Quarterly 'Chaluka' – Distribution Fund
The Chaluka encompasses the entire country, over the entire year. Close to 6,000 families are sustained by these lifesaving grants.
The enormous sums involved are the collective contribution of Jews from all over the world, and are distributed at times of greatest need. The recipients are young Kollel families, families with many children, orphans and widows, and those who dwell in the tents of Torah – enabling them to continue conducting their lives in a manner befitting the members of our Chosen People.
Each year the Kollel sustains over 30,000 souls, at the expense of $7,000,000.
Keren 'Ezer Nissuin'
A vital issue that concerns many of our Gedolim is the Mitzvah of 'Hachnassas Kallah' – supporting needy brides, and thereby guaranteeing the continuation of generations since the beginning of time. For this purpose Kolel Chibas Yerushalayim set up the 'Keren Ezer Nisuin', which offers support in two areas:
1. Grants for parents marrying off their children, and
2. A free loan society which offers substantial loans with a long-range payment date.
The fund exists in the merit of its many contributors, who assist in bearing this heavy responsibility.
Keren 'Ezer l'Yoledes'
The arrival of another link in the glorious chain of the Jewish People is cause for celebration for the entire nation. The relief fund 'Ezer l'Yoledes' grants a fixed one-time sum on the occasion of a birth, enabling the family to weather the onslaught of new expenses involved in this joyous occasion.
The Central 'Gemach'
A 'Gemach' (free loan society) is one of the trademarks of the Jewish nation, who are constantly on the lookout for opportunities to give to another in times of need.
The Central Gmach of Kolel Chibas Yerushalayim includes a wide range of free loan societies, set up specifically for those in need of financial assistance that will enable them to get back on their feet. The Gemach lends out approximately $500,000 a year.
Subsidized Dental Services
One of the most impressive accomplishments of the Kolel is the founding of a network of dental practices, servicing the religious public in various locations around the country. Dental treatment, which is not included in the government 'Health Basket' and is also not part of most insurance plans (Kupat Cholim), present an enormous burden to those in need. Many suffer in silence and are forced to ignore the pain, often endangering themselves by neglecting to seek treatment. Dental practices which include grants offer a solution to young Kolel families and those on a low income, who are unable to obtain the huge sums generally required.
The three dental practices established by the Kolel are situated in three major cities across the country: Bnei Brak, Yerushalayim and Ashdod.
The Clothing Enterprise
Another one of the Kolel's groundbreaking ventures is the clothing enterprise – a tremendous achievement, considering that it provides hundreds of needy families with respectable, quality clothing at subsidized prices.
Most parents wish to buy their children new clothes for Pesach, or a new hat for Rosh haShana, but many do not have the wherewithal to even honor the Shabbos with special clothing. It is precisely in this particular area where the full glory of Am Yisrael's compassion for one another is exposed. Thanks to the thousands of contributors who support this cause, Kolel Chibas Yerushalayim has succeeded in establishing a thriving clothing project for needy children.
The 'Clothing Outlet' has brought about a revolution of its kind: quality children's clothing in tasteful designs, sold at very low prices that are affordable to almost anyone. In this way the beginning of each season becomes a blessing instead of a nightmare, as the parents of hundreds of children are able to come and outfit their children in a respectable way, for Shabbos, Yom-Tov and weekday.
The parents of these contented children are deeply grateful, and thank us with all their hearts.
The annual budget involved in running the Clothing Outlet is a staggering $50,000

The Kolelim
“Since time immemorial, Yeshivos have never ceased to exist in the nation of Israel”. Never has the gem ceased to shine with that radiant glow: the crowning glory of the world of Torah – our finest scholars who sit and toil strenuously in the tents of Torah, ensuring that the 'voice of Yaakov' is heard constantly, throughout the world.
Kolel Chibas Yerushalayim, guardians of our ancient Mesorah, established
Kolels for these very Torah scholars without whom the world would cease to exist.
The students of the Kolel, outstanding scholars, are partners in a contract that was sealed centuries ago in the days of the twelve tribes, the 'Yissachar Zevulun' agreement. They immerse themselves in their studies without pause, stand up to high scholastic demands and spiritual heights, and thereby bring merit to the entire nation – including those who do not sit amongst them but are intrinsically bound up with them with the spiritual threads of Torah and Tzedaka. And 'the threefold string - is not quickly severed'...
'Kolel Beis Yitzchak'
The Beis Yitzchak Kollel was dedicated in the memory of The Admor Rav Yitzchak of Pshevorsk-Antwerp zt'l. The students undergo rigorous tests delivered by Gedolei Yisrael, and acquire 'Semicha' (Rabbinic ordination) under them.
Kollel Chibas Yerushalayim supports this holy tent of Torah with a monthly stipend for each member, thereby glorifying the sound of Torah for eternity.
'Kolel Toldos Eluzer'
How has Kolel Toldos Eluzer become world renown? Perhaps it is the amazing stories of yeshuos recounted by the donors to this holy charity.
The descendants of the holy Rabbi Eluzer of Reisha, (a grandson of the tzaddik Rabbi Elimelech of Lizensk,) all perished in the holocaust. Kolel Toldos Eluzer was founded in his memory and carries on his legacy of accessing heavenly help for Jews in need of yeshuos. In his lifetime Rabbi Eluzer Weissblum zt”l was well known as a poel yeshuos. There are so many amazing stories of the people who were helped at his doorstep. Today too, countless people are live testimony to the miraculous refuos and yeshuos they acquired by donating to this fund in the merit of the Tanna Rabi Meir Baal Haness and in the merit of the Tzaddik Rabbi Eluzer of Reisha.
